The much anticipated 26th Annual Mooneyes Street Car Nationals even in Odaiba, Tokyo on Sunday April 29. Talk about a perfect day! There were blue skies and scattered clouds with moderate winds. The cloud coverage kept everyone from overheating! There were 1,000 car entries this year which is the largest turnout to SCN ever! The excellent weather brought in 11,000 spectators! Golden Week Holiday Schedule

SPECIAL “GOLDEN WEEK” HOLIDAY SCHEDULE Information.
The beginning of May in Japan lines up several Japanese holidays which has been dubbed “Golden Week” by the travel industry. We have special hours for our mail order department which affects all new and pending mail orders. Please be advised of the dates posted below to avoid additional inconvenience.
However, MOONEYES Area-1 Shop and MOON Cafe in Honmoku Yokohama will be open as normal. MOONEYES Area-1 Shop will also have a Sidewalk Sale on Sunday May 6 starting at 10AM and running throughout the day until sunset.

The following schedule is for all Mail Order related activities including shipping and customer service. MOONEYES Mail Order Division (MOD) will be closed during the Golden Week holiday, which spans the dates of Sunday April 29 through Sunday May 6. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause during this time.

26th Annual MOONEYES Street Car Nationals Car Show & Swap Meet + Pinstripe Gathering
April 29, 2012 (Sunday) Odaiba, Tokyo Aomi Parking Lot Area (Rain or Shine)
General Admission is 1,000 yen per person. Exit/Reentry is possible with stamp upon leaving.
GATE OPENS AT 9AM
Huge outdoor car show featuring all kinds of cars from stock to wild, foreign and domestic both old and new. Visit our Event Galleries section for past event coverage. General parking is available at public parking lots (normally time-based fee). There are numerous lots around the event area.
If you are coming by train, there are a number of lines that travel into the area. The simple route would be to use YURIKAMOME which travels from Shimbashi station. If you do, get off at FUNE-NO-KAGAKUKAN station. (see map below)
An alternative route would be RINKAI-SEN which comes from Osaki Station. In that case, get off at is Tokyo Teleport station and walk to the event area. (see map below)
Please note there is a main entrance/exit for general admission and an alternate gate. The main gate is located on the south end of the event location.

Just arrived from Don Garlits Museum in Florida, the original Mooneyes Dragster and Devin-bodied Moonbeam are both on display in the MQQN Exhibit at NHRA Motorsports Museum in Pomona, California. It’s over 30 years since these two were last here in California! The two are scheduled to be on display until NHRA World Finals in November.

The work of legendary photographer Akira Kobayashi has been featured in Hot Bike Japan (HBJ) magazine over the years. Now, these photos as well as unpublished prints have been collected in this amazing 260 page softcover book titled, Smile Rock Ride.

Akira Kobayashi lived and photographed Southern California life, mainly in and around Venice Beach, from 1969-1974. From the mass amounts of photographs, head designer and owner of menswear brand NEIGHBORHOOD, Shinsuke Takizawa lead the concept and art design in creating this photo book.

Currently a popular style in the custom motorcycle world, Akira Kobayashi documented its roots and heyday of this style within the counter-culture period of Venice Beach. This is “Smile Rock Ride” and it expresses the passion of bikers of the day, their free loving spirit and lifestyle in Southern California, via photography which can still be appreciated by anyone viewing these pages today.
