Steve’s USA Trip Report – MOONEYES USA Open House (Part 1, Part 2)
July 7-12, 2011 PART II
It was time for the MOONEYES USA Open House! Wildman and I were staying at Travelodge in Orange County but we arrived in Santa Fe Springs before 6AM and there were already people there parked outside of MOONEYES. This was going to be an awesome day. Live bands scheduled to play were Hot Rod Trio and Gamblers Mark. DJ Dan of Dynotones would also be spinning sounds all day too. A variety of vendors had booths including Max Grundy with his Mercury. Two Nitro Dragsters were parked on site to have a little Cackle Fest. An AFX car was also on site and other hot rods and customs in front of the shop. Speaking of the shop, it would have a sale all day long. The machine shop was open for visitors to check out and Chico would cook up his famous Chico’s Burger for lunch. Wildman had his booth and was quickly filled with things to stripe. Soon there were more and more people, cars, bikes and more showing up one after another. Before I realized it, the gate were open and the Open House was in full swing. Cars and bikes and people, oh my! Outside on the street, across the street in the parking lot and next door at Hungry Boy was packed! It was awesome to see so many varieties of customizing tastes. There were no two vehicles alike. All day was non-stop action. It was truly an awesome day. Thank you to all the customers and people that came to MOONEYES.

First thing in the morning there are many people already waiting to get in as MOONEYES Staff begin setting up.

CACKLE TIME!

There were two cackle front engine dragsters on display all day. They took turns twice and fire them up. It was awesome!

Lots of motorcycles too. Of course, it was fantastic weather for riding.

The the very end there were custom cars coming and going. What an awesome day!

Thank you to everyone that stopped by and made the MOONEYES USA Open House a great success and to all the helpers, the band, the DJ and everyone that made the wheels turn smoothly.
Thanks for reading my trip report. On my way home I took a few more photos and even make this cool video of my take off on Singapore Airlines. Smooth take off and landing too.
