MOON Space Agency Steve's Malaysia Trip Report
Art of Speed Malaysia 2015 - MAEPS (SERDANG) - June 6 & 7, 2015
Greetings! This is MQQNEYES Steve. Traveling with Shige-san & Wildman, the three of us headed to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to attend the annual Art of Speed event. Traveling to Malaysia each year in June has been the ultimate experience to start off the summer. If you love custom car & motorcycle lifestyle then this amazing 2-day event needs to be on your bucket list. The "4th Annual Malaysia OlSkool & Kustom Kulture Show" ART OF SPEED MALAYSIA took place at MAEPS this year on June 6 & 7 (Sat/Sun). It's about 30 minutes from downtown Kuala Lumpur and it was their first time taking the event completely indoors bringing it to an all new level and experience for everyone involved. MAEPS stands for Malaysia Agro Exposition Park which is home to the largest indoor exhibition hall in Malaysia. From its humble beginnings, I have had the honor to be at each one AOS2014, AOS2013, AOS2012. It has grown fast and I'm sure next year will be even more amazing. Shige-san posted about the event on his blog (link) as did Wildman too (link).
We arrived before the sunrise one day before the event. It's a great way to start off the experience, watching the sunrise and early morning mist along the expressway. You know you are close when off in the distance, you are greeted by KL Tower and Petronas Twin Towers. Our hotel is within walking distance of the twin towers.
The next morning, bright and early, a bunch of us jumped on a stylish bus heading for the event area in MAEPS.
Art of Speed takes place indoors. But there are many activities going on at the same time outdoors. There was a vintage market (swap meet), FIM ASIA Supermoto races and more.
Event organizers Deni & Asep. This amazing couple is responsible for how fast is has grown. Also photographed together with YB Khairy Jamaluddin, the Minister of Youth and Sports who arrived on his personal Triumph motorcycle.

WILDMAN & Shige-san crazy busy working the MQQNEYES Booth for two days straight:
Luckily, the air conditioning was keeping everyone cool all day and the event was a non-smoking event as well. Perfect.
On Saturday there were two forum discussion sessions.
I managed to catch one of the many races that took place outside the event. There were many activities taking place on the same two days.
Thailand Rockabilly band, Trix 'O' Treat was rockin' the stage when I got back inside.
MQQNEYES Booth was crowded both days with Shige-san & Wildman doing their thing. Scott Jones from Noise Cycles (USA) and Andy Carter from Pangea Speed (USA) each had a booth and were kept busy early on as well. Kengo Kimura of Heiwa Motorcycles (Japan) and Masa Sugihara of Luck Motorcycles (Japan) each had one of their motorcycles on display. The Nash and his Nash Wagon were there too along with several pinstripers from Japan in the artist area including M&K Makoto, Mr. G, Jetwrench and Boo.
On the second day, there was a ride-in.
Triumph Build Off:
AOS Triumph Invitational Bike Build-Off was held on TV and featured four top builders from Malaysia. They competed for two months on a restricted budget. The winner, Omar@Maharani b Jumiran, of Eastern Bobber, was awarded a 1-year contract with Malaysia's exclusive Triumph distributor.
Vendor Booths and Displays:
Hot Wheels Booth:
Hot Wheels Booth featured a 1:1 scale track (12ft high) with two cars on display plus activities for the kids and toys for sale.

MONDAY: After the event
During the day we had some free time so we visited Eddie at Red Garage Malaysia. He's just a few minutes away from our hotel. His shop not only features a full motorcycle shop but also has a casual cafe and barber shop/salon.
Scott & Andy were treated to a short ride with Eddie too.
MONDAY NIGHT BBQ
In the evening, we headed over to Art of Speed's new show for their grand opening party and BBQ.
On the way, I saw a group of guys at a table. One had a red shirt so naturally I assumed it was The Nash... I was wrong.
ART OF SPEED STORE:
Located in a cool shop district with trendy stores, coffee shops and restaurants, Art of Speed Store is part cafe as well. They teamed up with Rider's Garage. Above are photos of the area, interior of the shop and (right) that's Jetwrench finishing up a collaboration pinstripe by Wildman, Mr. G, Makoto (M&K) and Boo.
Wildman brought a surprise MOON DISC for Deni & Asep. They immediately mounted it on their wall.
Luck MC & family, Heiwa Motorcycle, Wildman, Team NASH, Pin-up girls, drinks and BBQ.
It was Andy's birthday so everyone sang to him.
Shige-san recently had a birthday so Deni & Asep surprised him as well!
Thank you for your support. Hope to see you at HCS2015
