From the f60s
body with the funky headlights, the Dodge Van went through a total makeover
to a chrome grilled van in f71. Shortly afterwards, a minor change followed
in f74, and that year was the year when our Dodge Van was built. And as
usual, we have customized it front and back. Replaced the grille with one from a f71 Dodge Van, has a 318 cubic inch engine, a TF8 3 speed automatic transmission, and air conditioning. When we first brought it from the states, it was sunburned as if it was a surfer van back in the e70s. The inside was covered with shaggy carpeting, making it a haven for termites. When I first got on, I said, gMmmm, this is the smell of the 1970s.h But what I really meant was gIt stinks in here.h |
| The sole purpose for bringing this thing down here was to use it as a cargo van, transporting goods to and from Mooneyes Area 1, and so we had to get rid of the smell and the shaggy carpeting. After working on parts here and there, we found more and more places we had to work on, and we worked on the whole car from brakes, suspensions, to electrical circuits after all. |
| We expected to
get over with it, and enter it in the 2001 Hotrod Custom Show, but got it
done, a few moments before this yearfs Street Car Nationals. We painted
it Moon Yellow, Wildman did the pinstripes, and put Cragar S/S wheels (Front:
15X8 STD, Rear: 15X10 STD) on with Cooper Cobra tires. (Front: P245/60-R15,
Rear: P275/60-R15) Left it with a touch of the rear end higher than the
front. Only carpeted the front end of the cabin, and put a black Octagon
steering wheel on interior wise. We will be driving up to all sorts of shows all over Japan, already went to the Mopar Meet and the SCN Go! Suzuka Circuit, and so come on down and check out the Dodge gMoontastich Van when you see it. |
