MOONEYES
MEET 2004.4.11
It is natural in the U.S. to have a drag race with friends on a weekday
or during the weekend. "SURF on Saturday, DRAG on Sunday"
is not unusual in the States. Japan is such a small country and mostly
mountains. So it's difficult to live such a cool lifestyle, but we
try. That is the MOONEYES MEET Race on Sunday.
The MOONEYES MEET is the 3rd season this year. The first stage of
this season was held on April 11st, 2004 in the Sendai high land 400km
away fromTokyo.
On that day, the weather was cloudy but luckily no rain so it was
the best condition for the drivers. Because air conditioners are not
allowed to be used, and opening a window is also not allowed on the
strip. Using air conditioner leaves water drops on the turf which
causes spin outs. If you open a window, the distraction can cause
a big accident. So the drivers insummer look really tough. The heat
from the ground was not to high this timeso it was almost best condition. |

The number of contestants was
48. The parking was full of fast-looking cars around 9 and we could
hear the sound of engines. After Driver's meeting, let's drag on!
Some guys raced against friends and some guys raced with people they
meet by accident. The object of the MOONEYES MEET is to know and have
fun with drag race so the way of have fun depends on individual. By
the way, there was an accident where 1 Camaro lost control and hit
the wall. Fortunately the driver wasn't hurt. The strip was closed
for an hour for repair work.
Never forget the prompt response of PRA crew who operates the race.
Especially when an accident happens, they treat it so quickly.
