MEET/PRA Opening Nationals Chop Sticks Go Sendai Highland Sunday April 3rd 2005, MOONEYES MEET was held. At this years MOONEYES MEET, Run of the MOONEYES Dragster caught all attention. But Please don't forget that there was another important thing going on. Me The "Kid Rocker" my self and the other Chop Sticks Car Club Member "Konny" had '29 Ford "Gypsy Donkey" and '27 Ford "Konny Rocket II" driven all the 8 hours way to Sendai from Yokohama. 2 Roadsters which were made Some 80 years ago, reached and took run down the Drag Strip. We left Yokohama on the day before MOONEYES MEET at 5am. Took early bird way to avoid traffic through the metropolitan area to Tohoku Highway. Weather turned out to be fine and nice day to drive Roadster. Still chilly on dawn and sundown but felt like already reached to Sendai when we came to Honmoku MOONEYES Area-1 where we meet to start the 8 hour Cruise. To start off, we got on the Wangan-Expressway from Honmoku to Tokyo. "Dai-chan" Daisuke with VW Type-I and Hilux Dually went along to support cruise. When we reached Urawa toll, Gypsy Donkey had lost speed and yes empty gas. Gypsy Donkey has MOON TANK "Bonneville" which is a 5 Gallon tank. But no worries to rodders, Kid Rocker quickly pull the Donkey on the side way, refill with spare gas carrier tank and fires up MOONJECTION powered Chevy 350. Every 25 miles he refills so the crew took stop at every gas station on the highway. Need bigger MOON TANK for long drive. Meanwhile, Konny Rocket II cruised in silence with straight 6 and extra feature of a wind shield. Comfortable by far with a wind shield. With help of fine weather, crew reached Sendai High Land Race Way at 1pm. Although Drag Strip was open to race until 3pm, 2 Roadster took maintenance and saved race for next day. On the day of MOONEYES MEET weather was fine for the first run on the Drag Strip. Entry cars gathered and the race started. Gypsy Donkey and Konny Rocket II made the Run. Making scene of the Nostalgic Drag Race a reality. On the first run, Gypsy Donkey made Reaction Time(R/T) 1" 282, Elapse Time(E/T) 23" 688. Konny Rocket II made R/T 1" 300, E/T 18" 763. After the 4 run, Gypsy Donkey had R/T 0" 731, E/T 14" 779. Body less with Chevy 350 and MOONJECTION made power to show unexpected time. Every one was surprised to see with bias tire. Konny Rocket II had average E/T 18" to 19" with best condition but big wire wheels.
