AI-Chan's VW Trip in California

Hello this AIZAWA from MOON OF JAPAN. This time I like to report on the VW Classics Event hosted at CAL LOOK sanctuary the Southern California.

This event “VW Classics” is one big show for world wide Cal Look believers To gather in Southern California for 1 week of Drag race, VW Shops Open house And Car shows. By the way for Detail of CALLOOK please refer to "THE CALIFORNIA LOOK COMPLETE BIBLE"for easy to understand which start with "it used to be Economical car =VW base for UCLA student and they....."
As this report is for my self Aizawa, so please understand Many other things than VW are reported.

So first to start off by leaving Japan from NARITA Air Port, The Korean Air flight KE001 Economy Class is not only great cost performance but lands on early as eight o'clock in California so you can have all day on first day to enjoy the great USA life.
The BIBINPA served on flight is hot and tasty so please try. The tube type Kochujun can be purchased for present too.

I was planning to sleep on flight to save from eager to Sleep from every day life but I watched movie instead. "The Bridge to Terabithia" by Disney. It's a Fantasy type movie but adult can refer to own self and Can be enjoyed. If you have chance please check it out too. It feels like good saving to watch New released movie on flight. So as sleepless as I left, arrived to LAX safely but the symbol Encounter Restaurant was under construction.
Now for the real topic, VW Classic Weekend will start.

Tuesday June 5-7th
<West Coast Metric 30th Valut Sale>
First start off by Value Sales by the WCM for VW restoration Weather strip parts. Too bad I couldn't go with my schedules But surely many good deals were there. Too bad but OPEN House will be hosted with BBQ so should be good.

Thursday June 7th
<VW Drag Night /at Irwindale Speedway>
Arrive at MOONEYES USA. While borrowing the HHR company car, found odd looking pick up It was TOYOTA Staut. Making imagination for custom Staut by myself, taking 605 free way to North, I went to the Irwindale VW Drag Night. This Drag Strip is about half hour from Central LA which is like North Yokohama Kouhoku New town from Tokyo. The drag was great with the night atomospere and more variation Other than VWs Like Chevy LUV, Chevy-2 Nova, Import(Japanese).

There are many FM Radio station in L.A. like JAZZ,BLUES,ROCK and GOSPELS. (one in every about 0.2khz) Crusing on with the Radio on, USA is Great. By the way my favorite station are Power 106 with Hip Hop, K-Earth101 for Cool oldies. For people with out a car, buying cheap Radio in Super Market is good too. The DJ will spin music nonstop and surely be a nice memory too.

But sorry about too much of other than car talk, From tomorrow on I can talk cars.

Friday June 8th
<VEE Dub Parts Unlimited> Open House
Not really a charisma but OPEN House in buggy shop in Huntington Beach was full house even though it was weekdays From 9am to 6pm. "Have Free BBQ lunch and save money for swap meet on Sunday" so I got free lunch too. I was supposed to save money but bought DVDS.

<DKP Cruise Night>Fullerton Nick's Burgar
The Cruise night in Nicks Burger in Fullerton by Disney land in Orange county Was filled with freeks from all over the world as hosted by very related to CALLOOK, the DKP Club. It was over the Capacity and parking lot on both side and shopping mole On other side was filled too.

Finally at last OPEN House of the day was by restoration shop WCC, Rare car like this Hebmuller ( the one you can tell the front or rear) was able to see in side the factory shop.

Now we are into the main event.

Saturday June 9th
<O.C.T.O>
T-II main event. Long beach Veteran Memorial Stadium parking lot.

very L.A. cloudy in the early morning.

There are other than T-II here too.

Swap meet is filled too. There is a "Shonen Jump" magazine on corner.

Type-II is lucky with many reproduction parts. "Safari Bumpers"

Now today Saturday has to hop 3 palces so left to the next Toy Show.

<Ed Economy"s TOY & Memorabilia show>
VW Toy Mini cars, VWs' Sepical items, magazine from back then and Rare things some how at High class hotel. The VW related people come hopping to the high class hotel, like me.

Type II High roof, T-1 Oval and people enjoying their lunch. Great in USA. Inside is like this.

Now to the next place for Gene Berg Rally.
<Gene Berg Rally> Its called Rally but on public road with speed limit so Thing And stock engine cars are there too. This half chopped Beetle was toed by single cab Type II had BBQ set instead of engine.

Now on the way to next event but stopped by Orange for CW Moss Old Ford Part shop so stopped by to look for present to Ford guys of our Company employee Murakami and Sato. Nice Ranchero.

Stopped by the shop "BFY Obsolete Parts" which is famous for Flying Bus T shirts with rare VW parts. MONSTER GARAGE TV series featured this fossil T/M.

Orange is full of Antique shop so all town is coordinated Beautiful, Even the paint shop and Chain store Pizza shop. Kyoto is like that in Japan and looks nice like every one Is making that town.

Even the train station is nice.

Toyota Pick ups SR5 Decal looks good too.

USA is full of fun for car guys, hard to reach to the Next one but lets got the next as I am getting hungry too.

Sunday June 10th
<VW Classic>
I first came about ten some years ago when I was 19 years old and still a student but its great that I can still be excited. Also, from California famous VW Shop, DKP, German Folks famous car clubs, CALLOOK real timer to young ones In teens so various people are enjoying and having fun is great about VWS.

Yes, cloudy again in the morning.

But soon California blue sky.

Buggy

DKP Car Club, its great.

T-II CALLOOK looks great with large size Leccara.

Already not surprised to see the TYPE-II Burndoor, which is scaring myself.

Vintage is nice too.

Why is old Porche looks cool in USA.

On stage was the T-shirts give away by sponsors.

MOONEYES USA was out there too. Wheel and steering wheel were popular.

The rare Hebumuler was made to CALLOOK. My heart aches. By German Folks Car club. Cool.

Nice smell of Porche.

The great deals on wheel at swap meet.

So it was over in flash and left the event but I forgot Important place to visit in USA. Chinese fast food chain stores, PANDA EXPRESS. So I asked Makoto at MOONEYES USA but instead went to here. "HONGKONG EXPRESS".

Style is Fried rice chawmen and 2 or 3 items, so like same But hot chilly taste was good and taste great. Wish this style increase in Japan too.

Its last night in "Motel 6" which is kind of sad. Lastly the USA own OPEN HOUSE will be held at MOONEYES USA too on Next month July 14th. Please visit our OPEN HOUSE too!
