25th Annual Street Car Nationals Sunday April 24, 2011<\/strong><\/div>\r\n \r\n\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n

Thank you to everyone for being a part of the 25th Annual MOONEYES Street Car Nationals (SCN)! This includes all the people that make the trek to Odaiba, swap meet goers, auction seekers, car enthusiasts, friends and fans. Everybody was a vital part of making the 25th Anniversary SCN and MOONEYES & Friends Charity Auction a great success. Thank you to the swap meet merchants and catering services and of course, all the car show entries. Held in Odaiba Tokyo at Aomi Parking Area, the same place as last year, we initially weren't sure that we could use this are as it was scheduled for development but luckily we obtained the entire lot and needed it too! There were more than 800 car show registrations, a record number for SCN, and the spectrum was very wide featuring old and new, stock and custom, mild and wild, cars and trucks, and so much more in between! Be sure to check out the links to the galleries at the bottom of this page. \r\n\r\nThe weather leading up the the event forecast a high percentage of possible rain. Although the weather forecast changed to a sunny icon, we were skeptical. The night before, Saturday, the rain came down hard and literally canceled out the cruise night. Suddenly strong winds picked up and the rain and wind had everyone curious about how tomorrow would turn out. By 4AM Sunday morning, the rain was gone and the winds were mild gusts. By the time we arrived in Odaiba, the sun was peaking over the horizon and the skies were clear. It was a perfect day for a car show and event.\r\n\r\nWith this being the 25th Anniversary, we wanted to do something special for the occasion. However, with the tragedy of 3\/11 still in our thoughts we decided, instead, to do something special for the victims of the tragic events from 3\/11. So, it was a matter of, what could SCN do? After much consideration, we felt that each individual person coming to the event could contribute. Not only that but we would hold a charity auction as well. In all aspects of SCN, everyone contributed, even without knowing at first, just by taking part, they contributed. First off, 25% of all Car Show & Swap Meet registrations were going to charity. So many MOONEYES Friends from USA contributed gifts to be auctioned, we were set for a complete day of auctioning and raising money for the charity as well. That\u2019s what became \u201cMOONEYES & Friends Charity Auction\u201d. Considering how we all started to realize the value of electricity (from the power plant failure), we made a limited edition sticker MOTTAINAI which sold out 2,000 stickers before the end of the day. All proceeds from the sticker went to charity. Treasure hunters were digging for old MOONEYES Event-Only T-shirts in a huge pile. These also sold out and sales went to charity. We also collected donations in MOON Tanks at the event and at MOONEYES Area-1 and MOON Cafe in Honmoku for charity. The catering services at the event also contributed by 5% of their registration fee going to charity. Overall, the grand total was just shy of 5.5 million yen, about $65,000 USD. This amount was donated to the Japanese Red Cross Society<\/a>.\r\n\r\nWith everyone contributing a little and a few others contributing a lot, it\u2019s amazing how fast it adds up. We are grateful for everyone that came to the event and for contributing support. Thank you very much. This is surely making a big difference to the people affected by the disaster of 3\/11. We hope the area recovery is as fast as possible and everything gets back to normal real soon.\r\n\r\n<\/div>\r\n
