Last Day
May 27 (Sunday)
Not many people left on Sunday. I had read about the day after the main day where there are not many people left. Saturday was the main day and it was packed. Today is was not empty but it felt that way compared to the day before. However, the weather was excellent and felt great!

I arrived at the MOONEYES booth before the show opened and Chico said, "Let's check out the swap meet!" So I tagged along with him and we headed over to the swap meet area. The swap meet is held on an open lawn. The day before, the lawn was packed with cars and people. Although they had left, the area was replaced with the swap meet. Sweet! It didn't even cross my mind that I'd be able to browse a swap meet while I'm here in my trip. More on that later.

We headed back to the booth. It seemed that as more people left and space opened up, the people that remained stretched out expanding their area as the day passed. Most of the people sticking around also seemed to be taking it all in, enjoying every minute until the very end.

The final three hours of the event is dedicated to the awards. Penny is the organizer of this event. She starts off the awards ceremony with a speech. Then proceeds to bring in one car at a time. Introduces the car, the award, the receivers are thrilled and meet with Penny, it's a very happy experience. Everyone gathered is positive and you can really feel the love for this culture peaking at this moment. I understood one thing at the end when she said, "Hope to see you in Santa Maria next year." I know she was talking directly to me because I'm already planning my trip here next year.

Customized
Cruisin' Nationals 2012 was complete. From this entire experience, I have gained a lot, learned even more and seen so much that it will last a lifetime.

I used to think about what makes something customized. How much do you have to do to make something customized? But it's not a severe thing at all. From the slightest touch and graceful, you can achieve a customized look. It's all about the approach one takes and their own taste. We all have our own theories and ideas to what we like. I think that's it. What ever your imagination wants customized to be, just is.

You can easily see this in the photos that I have posted with this report. There are mild to wild customs, some with the slightest touch and others more extreme. A lot of aftermarket parts and accessories being used too. Your limit is your imagination. Make it work.

I will be back someday to Santa Maria Broadway. One day, I'll be cruisin' my own custom down this strip.
