横浜の代表駅弁と言えば、皆さんもご存知のように崎陽軒のシュウマイ弁当です。
さめてもおいしいと言うシュウマイが自慢の名物ですが、さすがに50年近く食べていると物が変わって来るのもわかります。






右側がそのシュウマイ弁当です。 シュウマイ弁当に関しては本牧スタイルブログで紹介されますので、僕は隣に写っているお弁当を紹介します。
実はこのお弁当、圧倒的シェアを誇るシュウマイ弁当の影になり余り目立ちませんが、実は隠れた名作なんです。
その名は「横浜チャーハン」、値段は550円！リーズナブルです。 しかもおいしい、また量もちょうどいい。　
一度大々的にモデルチェンジされこのパッケージと中身になりましたが、その昔はただチャーハンにエビが載っているだけのシンプルさ！
当時はそれで300円くらいだったと思います。安かった！
　
それを6個入りのポケットシュウマイと一緒に食べるのがナンともロコでした。
現代版はシュウマイやエビチリが入りちょっと豪華になりました。
さめているチャーハンが美味しい！「横浜チャーハン」 これはお勧めです。


"Ekiben" is Japanese short for Box Lunch sold at stations in Japan and The most famous "Ekiben" of Yokohama is well known" Shumai"(Shoamai) food company called "KIYOKEN"s Shoamai Lunch Box called "Shumai Bento".
(Shumai is Japanese for Shaomai and is a steamed meet dumpling.)
The "Shumai Bento" is famous for its proud "Shumai" which taste good even when it's cold But as having taste of it for 50 years, I could tell it has changed.

Through these years Right one is the "Shumai Bento". The "Shumai Bento" was introduced at "Honmoku style" Blog so I will introduce Lunch box on the left side.

This Lunch box doesn't stand out under the shadow of famous and overwhelming share of "Shumai Bento" but it is really a hidden master piece.
"Yokohama Chow Han" is the name of this fried rice lunch box and it is priced at 550 yen, reasonable. On top of its reasonable price, it taste good and volume is just the right size too.

Once it had big model change to current package and inside. Before that change, it was a simple lunch box with just fried rice and some shrimp on top.
I think it was priced 300 yen, was nice low price. Adding a "Pocket Shumai", small lunch box of six "Shumai" and eat them together was my favorite local way to enjoy them.
The current model is more deluxe with "Shumai" and Chili sauce Shrimps. Taste good even when it's cold "Yokohama Chow Han", it's my recommendation.
