NASCAR Xfinity Series
October 17th, Las Vegas Motor Speedwayで開催されたNASCAR Xfinity Seriesへ行ってきました。Stock Car Raceを見るのは1981年にRiverside Raceway, CAで観た以来なんと40数年振り,今回はStock の本場Charlotte, NCで長年Racing Driverと活動しているAkinori OgataさんがMOONEYES ThemeのStock CarでLas Vegasで走ると言うので応援に行ったのでした。
October 17th, we have visited theNASCAR Xfinity Series held at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. It had been over 40 years or so since I last watched a Stock Car Race, which was in 1981 at Riverside Raceway, CA. This time, I went to support Akinori Ogata, a long-time racing driver, who was racing a MOONEYES Theme Stock Car in Las Vegas, right in the heart of Stock Car country, Charlotte, NC.
彼が参戦したXfinity SeriesはNASCARのTopに位置するCup Seriesの次のクラスになるそうで予選が金曜日、決勝は土曜、Cup Seriesの予選は土曜日に行われ決勝は日曜日となっていました。金曜日の予選２周のタイムで走行順が決まりますが予選落ちは無いとの事、Drag Raceでは予選落ちになったら決勝に進めないのでスポンサーとしては辛い状況ですがNASCARでは決勝に参加でき今回のレースはコースを201周するのですからAccidentとさえ無ければ201回はスポンサーロゴが見える訳です。 Funny Car だったら決勝に進んでも一回戦で負けるとロゴの露出度は僅か４秒位で終わってしまいます。と一瞬考えてしまいました。

However, in NASCAR, even if you qualify, you can participate in the finals, and since this race was 201 laps long, the sponsors' logos would be visible for all 201 laps, if there were no accidents. If it were a Funny Car, even if you made it to the finals, losing in the first round would result in only about four seconds of logo exposure. I briefly thought about that.
決勝の出走順位は38台中35番目でしたが車を壊す事もなく完走したのは素晴らしい事です。
He started in 35th place out of 38 cars, but it was remarkable that he finished the race without damaging the car.
もの凄い音でApple Watchから危険！と何回もNoticeが送られてきました。
レースの壁は厚いですが今後の健闘を祈っています。
