11日土曜日はCalifornia Pomonaで開催されたNHRA Winternationalsに行ってきました。
ちょっとその前に、ゼロ スタイルと呼ばれ、ハーレーで全世界的に一つのスタイルを作り上げた"ゼロ エンジニアリング"の木村氏が、日本のZeroを退職し1月末にCaliforniaでShopを立ち上る為に渡米した、と聞いていたので住所を確認したところ、Pomonaへ行く途中でもあるFoothill, Azusaというところなのでお邪魔してきました。
Shop名は"Chabott Engineering（チャボ エンジニアリング）"、隣はHot Rod Shopが入っている、なかなか楽しい環境のShopでした。これから彼のUSAでの活躍が楽しみですね。きっとCalifornia、またUSA全体のMotorcycle Marketに、そしてHot Rod Marketにも大きな影響を与える事、間違いないShopがOpenしました。MotorcycleのMarketでHuntington BeachのChica氏をはじめ、日本人がCaliforniaで活躍しているのは何とも素晴らしい事です。
2006年、MOONEYESはちょっとだけNHRA Pro Class Nitro(Top Fuel) Funny Car Jim Dunn Racingをサポートする事になり、4年振りにWinternationalsに行ってきました。究極のHot RodはFunny Carですから、Hot Rod ShopのMOONのロゴはRacewayで、そしてRace Carに貼ってあるのが一番似合います。
年間全米を20戦近くまわり、11月にこのPomonaで開催されるWorld Finalでレースシーズンは終了します。ワンレース15万人位の来場者があるUSAではIndy、NASCARなどに続く人気レースのDrag Raceですが、日本ではもう一つ認知度が低いようです。Race FunにはMOON好きも多く、普段クルーズやCar Show等で会うHot Rodderの知り合い達を多くレース場で見かけ、「Hot Rodは好きだけどDrag Raceはちょっと」という日本のHot Roddeｒとは違うようです。Drag Raceを取り巻く環境の違いと言ってしまえばそれきりですけど。
2006シーズン、Lucas Oil/Jim Dunn Racing Funny Carの活躍に期待しましょう。PomonaにはあのVon Dutch ClothingもFunny Carをスポンサーし、ドライバー Frank Pedregonで参加していました。

I went to the NHRA Winternationals at POMONA, California on Saturday 11th.

Before that I visited the shop of Mr.KIMURA who is known world wide for "ZERO ENGINEERING" where he build "ZERO style" of Harley Davidson has resigned from ZERO Engineering in Japan to open shop in Foothill, Azusa in California in end of January, So I dropped by. The shop is called "Chabott Engineering", next door was Hot Rod shop and shop was great fun place. I look forward to his future work in USA. I think the opening of this shop will make good effect to all USA Motorcycle market and Hot Rod Market. In Motorcycle Market like Mr. CHICA of Huntington Beach, its great hear that Japanese is in Motorcycle business in California.

In 2006 MOONEYES has decided to make little support to Pro Class Nitro(TOP FUEL) Funny Car Jim Dunn Racing. Back in Winternationals from four years of blank. The extreme of Hot Rod is Funny car so MOON LOGO goes on well on Raceway and on Race cars. Drag Race may be less popular in Japan but in US 20 races around USA and finals on November at POMONA World Final, and is popular with about 150,000 people see each race at raceway which is big event next to Indy, NASCAR. There are many MOON funs in Race funs and see many people cruise and Show goes in Raceway too which is unlike in Japan where people say " will go to show but not raceway". May be its because of the different circumstances for Drag racing.

In 2006 season, Please support Lucas Oil/Jim Dun Racing Funny car. The Von Dutch clothing was supporting Funny car in Pomona with Frank Pedregon as driver.
