MOONEYES Express

Trip to Kobe, New Order Chopper Show from Yokohama

kobe-trip

Last year we rode to the Joints Show in Nagoya (350km/220miles) so this year we decided to ride to the New Order Chopper Show in Kobe (520km/325miles). We left Yokohama in the early morning on 8/22 (Fri) but since our tanks are small and we were sure about the next gas station, we each brought along the Emergency Tank just in case. At each Service Area (SA) along the way, we made sure we stopped for gas. At the first stop in Ebina SA I added 2.5L (0.7 gal) to my tank, however MQQNEYES Staff Yano's Panhead filled up 5L (1.5 gal) so we were unsure??

After filling up with gas in Ashigara SA, we discovered that Yano's front hub bearing has coming off. Ito-san's support was already needed as he fixed the issue with a tie strap (zip tie).
It was an uneasy feeling because we had only driven 520km (325 miles) so far.

We rode on the Shin-Tomei expressway. Another stop in Suruga Numazu SA.

Just as we thought, out of gas. However, the MQQN Emergency Tank came to our rescue.
The life saving 1L (1/4 gallon).

kobe-664

The feeling of securing just by having it is so different than not having one at all.
Yano's bike would be saved another 3 or 4 times on this trip.

kobe-663
Emergency Tank

Can't forget to fill the Emergency Tank as well.

at 浜松 SA

After we were finished, we saw someone taking apart their push rod. at Hamamatsu SA

kobe-662

We were now passed the halfway point and we were getting closer. But one bike was now a single cylinder.

kobe-654

He decided to change the parts on the spot and fix the bike. After three hours, we were done. Leaving Honmoku, Yokohama at 7AM and stopping at SA after SA, it was at 12 noon when we arrived here. If we continue this stride, how long will it actually take?

I walked around killing time at the SA. I found one of my favorite cars, a Bay Window T-2. However, the rear quarter panels were equipped with the curved glass indicating it was from Brazil.

As we finally set out towards Nagoya, I noticed the weather starting to get bad.
The ultimate goal today, changing to Iga where the city of NINJA!, getting on the Isewangan HWY and making it to Kariya SA before it rained. It rained on us all the way until Nagashima SA. My face hurt.
Because of the rain, I couldn’t take any photos during the rain.

This road is on the bank of Yokkaichi which is a public highway that heads into Osaka but it is just like driving on an expressway.

Yes, down in the Kansai area, escalators are generally ridden on the right. Just the opposite in the Kanto area.
