Orange County Fairで開催された、


「Orange Crush-Demolition Derby」というイベントに行きました。

Demolition Derby、

＜最後まで残ったのはこの2台＞	＜黒が勝ち残りました。＞

早い話がコース内にいる車同士が激しくぶつかり合い、誰が最後まで残るかと言うものです。
ルールは1965年か、それより新しいUS屋根付きフルサイズ乗用車（ステーションワゴンはOK)で、キャブ仕様、

トラック、商業車、T-トップと、クライスラーインペリアルは除くとあります。　
インペリアルは大きすぎて頑丈そうだからでしょうか？
その他、いろいろルールがあるようです。　
今まで色々、車関連のイベントは観てきましたが、この手のイベントは遠い他の州の出来事にように思っていて、南カリフォルニアでやっているのは知りませんでした。
結構楽しかったですよ！


We went to the "Orange Crush" Demolition Derby at the 2008 Orange County Fair (OC Fair). For those of you that may not know, a Demolition Derby (also known as simply 'Demo') consists of a bunch of modified cars that circle around attempting to crash into the other competitors while dodging others. The last vehicle running wins. They cars are normally mid-sixties and later, full-size American cars, excluding certain makes depending on the Demo rules.
Cars such as Chrysler Imperials are normally not permitted because of the huge size and weight advantage, I guess.

Up until this point, I've seen all kinds of car shows and events and have always thought these demos were too far away to see. I've always thought they were held way out in the country side or in the middle of nowhere. To my surprise, they are held all over the US and right here in Southern California. It was quite an enjoyable experience!
