40th Anniversary Pharaohs Car Club Car Show





名古屋 Pharaohs Car Club 40周年記念のCar Showが開催されました。日本屈指のCar Clubのイベントに敬意を表し1961 Buick LeSabre “MOONblessing”で横浜から約200mile(350km)を無事走り抜けられるように整備をBlues Mobile, Yokohamaにお願いし初めての遠出となりました。3連休初日の土曜日、渋滞を避けるつもりで本牧を6:25amに出発!なのに何と東名横浜インター周辺で1時間半くらいの事故渋滞に巻き込まれ 出鼻をくじかれましたが心配したオーバーヒートもなく事故現場をを通過、ラフな天候にも関わらず順調に走り続け14時頃には名古屋周辺の宿泊地に 無事到着できました。ま、名古屋までの道中何件事故現場を通過して覚えていませんが事故が多かったです。Blues Mobileの整備はPerfect! これから"整備のBlues”と改名します。

横浜を出てしばらくは今にも降りそうな曇り空でした。

Nagoya's Pharaohs Car Club 40th Anniversary Car Show was held. To pay tribute to one of Japan’s top car clubs, we prepared for our first long-distance trip in the 1961 Buick LeSabre “MOONblessing,” aiming to safely cover approximately 200 miles (350 km) from Yokohama. We entrusted the maintenance to Blues Mobile, Yokohama to ensure the car was ready for the journey. On the first day of the three-day weekend, Saturday, we left Honmoku at 6:25 am to avoid traffic! However, right around the Yokohama Interchange on the Tomei Expressway, we got stuck in an accident-related traffic jam for about an hour and a half, putting a bit of a damper on our start. Thankfully, there were no overheating issues, and we were able to pass the accident site and continue driving steadily through rather rough weather. By around 2 pm, we safely arrived at our accommodation near Nagoya. Honestly, we passed so many accident sites on the way that I’ve lost count—but there were quite a few.

After leaving Yokohama, the sky was cloudy and looked ready to rain at any moment.

To prepare for any unexpected situations, we loaded the Chevy Van onto a car carrier, while Pan Sumi took photos of the Buick in driving shots from the passenger seat.

途中でBlues Mobileの方々に遭遇!

On the way, we happened to meet the Blues Mobile team!

大粒の雨が降ってきまたがずぶ濡れになって撮影を続けるPan Sumi! ビショビショです!

Heavy rain started falling, but Pan Sumi kept shooting, getting completely soaked! Soaked!

ホテルに着き、名古屋市内へ行く為にChevy Vanを積載車から下ろし、いざ市内観光へ!

After arriving at the hotel, we unloaded the Chevy Van from the car carrier and headed into Nagoya for some sightseeing!
と思ったら何と今度は”Engine Check”のランプが点灯!!
もう構わず出発です!

But then, the ‘Engine Check’ light came on!
No time to worry, we just set off!

そのMAD MOUSE COMICのOwnerがやっているHamburger Shop "FAT MAN'S MiSERY" でLunch。

Hamburger PattyをDonutsで挟んだDonuts Burger!!ボリュームと甘さに倒れそうになってしまうので僕はRegular Burgerを頂きました。 このDonut Burgerは何と1,700kcalだそうです。まさにKiller Burger!でも物凄く美味しかったそうです。

We had Lunch at the Hamburger Shop run by the owner of MAD MOUSE COMIC.

They serve a Donut Burger — a hamburger patty sandwiched between donuts! The combination of volume and sweetness was almost overwhelming, so I ordered for a regular burger instead. Apparently, the Donut Burger is 1,700 calories — truly a Killer Burger! But from what I heard, it was absolutely delicious.
ビルごとAntiqueで一杯なStore in Factoryと言うお店に寄ってみました。全フロア Antiqueで一杯です。

We visited ‘Store in Factory,’ an entire building full of Antiques. Each floor was full of with all sorts of Antiques.
どこでも何か購入するPan Sumiです。

日曜日はCar Show, 見て下さいこの台数! 300台近く集まったのです!入りきれず第2会場もすぐに一杯になっていました。こんなに詰まってどうやって退出するの?って心配しました。Buickはこの画像の上の方にあったので早期退出は諦め気味だったのですがさすが老舗Car Clubが主催しているEvent! Staffに色々言う人もなく以外にすーっと退出できてしまいました。

Sunday was the Car Show — LQQK at all these cars! Nearly 300 vehicles had gathered! The main venue quickly filled up, and even the second venue was packed. I was worried, thinking, “How on earth will they get out with this packed?” Our Buick was positioned near the top of this photo, so we were resigned to an early exit being difficult. But as expected from an Event hosted by a well-established Car Club, no one complained, and surprisingly, we were able to leave smoothly. You really can’t argue with one of Japan’s top Car Club!

今から40数年前, Hot Stuff, Yamaguchi-sanから “Dummy Sport” や “Peep Mirror”をUSAから取って欲しいと依頼を受けたのですが当時Hot Rods(と言ってもMuscle Cars)に使う部品は多少知っていたのですが頼まれたこれらは???!後で分かった事ですがこれらは全て彼らからの注文だったのです。そんなでMOONEYESは名古屋が無かったら無かったかもしれません。名古屋ありです!

This was over 40 years ago, long before MOONEYES shops opened in Motomachi and Yokohama. Back then, I was asked by Hot Stuff’s Yamaguchi-san to source items like “Dummy Sport” and “Peep Mirror” from the USA. At the time, I knew a little about parts used for Hot Rods (which back then mostly meant Muscle Cars) — but these items???! Later, I realized that all of these were special orders from them, afterwise. In a way, if it weren’t for Nagoya, MOONEYES might never have existed. So thank you, Nagoya!
この日は異常な暑さと湿気!!Buickで帰るのは辛いと、Buickを積載車に載せ、Engine Check LampがつきっぱなしのAC付きChevy Vanが自走で戻る事にしたのでした。

This day was insanely hot and humid! Driving the Buick back would have been tough, so we loaded it onto the car carrier and had the AC-equipped Chevy Van, with the Engine Check light constantly on, drive itself back.
沼津でGasを入れ、一気に横浜を目指したのですが足柄SAから先, 20km以上の渋滞となり名古屋を出発時CheckしたGoogleの到着予定時間より この渋滞で約1時間Lossし17:30頃会場出発, 本牧到着23:00でした。西からのEvent帰りの際、必ず足柄辺りからこの渋滞が始まり延々と続くのです。西から戻って来ると富士山周辺から観光帰り等の車等が一番い多い時間帯にこの辺を通過する事となり40年近くこのパターンです。辛い!早く帰りたい!!

We fueled up in Numazu and headed straight for Yokohama, but after Ashigara SA, we hit over 20 km of traffic. Because of this jam, we lost about an hour compared to the Google-estimated arrival time checked when leaving Nagoya. We finally left the venue around 5:30 pm and arrived in Honmoku by 11:00 pm. Whenever returning from Event in the west, the congestion always seems to start around Ashigara and continues endlessly. Driving back from the west, you inevitably hit this area at the same time as all the sightseeing traffic around Mt. Fuji — a pattern that’s been repeating for nearly 40 years. It’s tough! I want to get home quickly!!
