さて前回のブログからまだまだこの長い物語は続きます。
不良のA君のお兄様がお乗りになっていた物凄い音と白煙と３本マフラーの金色のオートバイのあまりのカッコよさに痺れてしまった少年Wildmanにはこのオートバイについて調べる義務が残っておりました。
早速お得意の資料収集に入りカワサキのエスエスについて調べまくったところどうやらこの時点（1978年）で生産はされていなくカタログにはとってもエスエスに似たオートバイが掲載されておりましたが、それはエスエスでは無くKHというモデルでした。「うーむ、マッハに似てはいるがちょっとかっこ悪いかな・・」と思っておりました。
エスエスはもっと旧い型なのかもしれないと思いさらに多数の古本収集に明け暮れました。すると色々な事が分って来たのです、エスエスはSSというシリーズでこれが幾多のマイナーチェンジを行って現在（'78年）ではKHというバイクになっていました。さらにSSにはとってもカッコイイシリーズ名が付いていたのです、そうですあまりにも有名な"Mach"（マッハ）というサブネームです。「マッハだって!!なんてカッコイイ名前だ、どう考えても猛烈に速そうだ」と少年Wildmanの心はときめきました。
そしてマッハシリーズの全てを調べまくった結果一つの結論が出ました。「バイクはマッハしかないぞ、いつかこれに乗らなくては!!」という毎度おなじみの激しい思い込みがまた発生いたしました。
長くなるのを承知でカワサキのマッハについて語らさせて頂きます。
1967年まではトライアンフ・ボンネビルが世界最速の市販オートバイでした。
しかしそれを打ち破るために開発された日本車がカワサキのマッハIIIだったのです（もうこれだけのストーリーでWildmanの頭はクラクラでした）マッハという名は音速を表し、IIIは3気筒を意味していました。68年から生産の始まったマッハIIIは空冷2ストローク3気筒500ccという個性的なエンジンレイアウトを持ち当時としては驚異的な60hpというパワーを絞り出し、3速でもフロントが上がり、ゼロヨン12,4秒、最高速度200km/hという圧倒的なスピードを誇り、ついにトライアンフ等の英国車を世界最速の座から引きずりおろし、その後数十年に渡り日本車は世界最速のオートバイを数々生み出して行きました。
「世界最速だって・・・速さは正義だ!マッハ最高!!」とWildman始めスーパーカー世代にとっては スピードはもの凄く重要な物で遅いバイクなんて意味がないと思っていたのです。
マッハIIIは主な輸出国であるアメリカで好評を持って迎えられました、当時のアメリカのマッハの広告はアメリカらしい比較広告で500ccで$995のマッハは$1400以上の750ccよりも速い!!という物で先頭を走るマッハIIIの後をHarleyやHonda,Triumphが追う画像でそれを見た瞬間から少年Wildmanにとってバイクは2ストのマッハのみで4ストのバイクなんて全てファミリーカーと同じレベルという勝手な理論が完成
しました。(何も分かっていない子供の勝手な考えなのであまり気にしないで下さい）マッハシリーズは500ccのマッハIIIに始まりその後色々な排気量のバリエーションを増やして行き、250ｃｃのマッハI、350ccのマッハIIそして究極のモンスター750ccのマッハⅣという4つの排気量が揃い、全てのクラスで最強のパワー、最速のスピードを誇っていました。ここまで調べて少年Wildmanはマッハのとりこになり「いつか免許を取ったら絶対にマッハに乗るぞ、オレは世界最速だ!」という誰にも止められない信念が生まれました（このようにいつも最初の思い込みにより人生がおかしくなります・・）
そして中学校卒業の頃、不良ながらイラストが異常に上手なA君に「あのさあ、お兄サンのマッハはどうなっているのかなあ・・・」と恐る恐る聞くと「ああ、あれはアニキがエンジンを焼き付かしちゃって、川に捨てちまった」という悲しいお言葉が・・・
「か、川に捨てた・・やっぱり不良は凄いな、マッハを川に捨ててしまうのか・・」とがっかりしながらA君の話を聞いていました。
そして80年代に入りWildmanが中型自動二輪免許取得後、マッハシリーズというのはもはやとんでもない希少車になっていて、「こんな事ならA君のお兄様のマッハを川で拾っておけばよかった・・・」と後悔する事態になっていました。ということで次回のオートバイ物語Part.IIIはマッハに乗れないWildmanのKH250物語に話は流れてゆきます。

So the long story continues from last blog. The Young Wildman who fell in love with the cool bike with 3 Gold muffler and loud exhaust noise which brother of "A" was riding, had to find out about this motorcycle.
So he started to look for all information to find out about Kawasaki SS and At that time in 1978 it was already out of production and catalog had SS look alike but it wasn't SS, it was KH model.
"hmmmm, it looks little like Mach but not as cool as Mach" thought Wildman. SS may be much older model, so went through finding more old books. Then he found many things, SS was the series with many minor changes Were made which became current(1978) KH model. Plus SS had cool series name, it was very famous "Mach" sub name.
The young Wildmans heart was in love, "Mach! What a cool name, Sounds super fast." One conclusion came out after finding out about Mach series. "Mach is the only motorcycle. I got to ride this in future" The Wildman thought he had to own one for sure.
Wildman will be talking more about Mach, he knows it will be a long story. Until 1967 Triumph/Bonneville was the world fastest bike on sold from manufacture. But Kawasaki Mach III was made to beat that record.
A,mx spring… (with just this story Wildmans head was spinning) Mach means speed of the sound, III meant 3 cylinder. Mach III which started production from 1968, has Air cooled 2 stroke 3cylinder with 500cc as very unique engine and had over 60 horsepower, front end will lift up even in 3rd gear, 12.4 seconds for quarter mile, top speed was 200km/hour (125miles/hour) and finally Triumph and English Motor cycles was pulled down from the world top speed and Japanese motorcycles kept making new models with top speed for couple decades.
"The world fastest,, Fast is justice, Mach is great!!" Wildman and many Super car boom generation think speed is very important and slow motorcycle has No meaning. Mach III was mainly exported to USA and was welcomed with good reputation. The advertisement in USA was very American advertisement, 500cc with US$995 Mach is faster than US$1400 over 750cc and picture of Mach in front of Harley Davidson, Honda and Triumphs were behind, Young Wildman thought Motorcycle Was 2 stroke Mach only and 4 stroke Motorcycle was like same thing as Any family car was the selfish theory made up at that time.
(Please don't bother about child selfish theory) Mach series had 500cc MachIII and many size variation was made, such as 250cc Mach I, 350cc Mach II and extreme monster machine 750cc Mach IV and all was fastest and strongest in its own class.
By then Young Wildman was into Mach and "someday when I get license I will ride Mach, I am world fastest." His self own belief which was stoppable was born. (Like so the life of Wildman gets strange in first impression and belief)
When graduating Junior high school he asked scarcely to “A” who was the Bad boy but unusually talented for drawing illustration, “hei what happened to your brothers Mach?” “That? My brother blew up motor and threw it into the river”
Sad reply came back. "Threw it into the river, Bad boys does extreme things.. Threw Mach into the river.." Wildman was getting disappointed as he was listening to "A".
Then in to the 80s and Wildman had Mid size motorcycle License and Mach series was very rare model. "If I knew it will be like this rare, I should have pulled out "A" s brothers Mach from the river" Wildman regrets. So next Motorcycle story Part III will move onto Wildmans KH250 because he can't have Mach.
