ついに記念すべき5回目の連載となったこのブログ風の小説は、とりあえず今回で完結の予定ですがどうなるか分りません。
マッハにあこがれつつもマッハが見つからず、半ば妥協したような形でカワサキKH250（推定1978年型）のオーナーとなったWildmanでしたが、KHに乗ってみれば2ストロークトリプルの末弟としてそれなりに面白く、3本の白煙とこの形式のエンジンでしか味わえないサウンドを数年間楽しんでおりました。
ところが1985年のある日バイク雑誌の中古車屋のＣＭを見てビックリ!「カワサキ350SS 昭和46年型 車検2年付き 上物 応談」という物件が目に飛び込んできました。「マ、マッハだ初期型だ、白レインボーだ
一番欲しかったヤツだ!!!」と興奮し、東京のこの店にすぐ電話しました。
「あのー、雑誌の広告に出ている350SSなんですけど、まだありますか？」と聞くと、「まだありますよ、いつでも見れますよ」と嬉しい返事を頂き、「じゃあ、今度の日曜日にそちらに伺いますので宜しくお願いします!!」とお金の事は考えずに伝え指折り数えて日曜日を待ちました。
カワサキ350SS（形式名S2：通称Mach II）は世界最速のマッハIII500SSに続き1971年に発売されたマッハシリーズとしては2台目のモデルでした。軽量ハイパワーはマッハIII譲りで3気筒350ccで45psはもちろんクラス最高のパワーで（当時他メーカーの350ccは2気筒で36ps程度）これは10年後の'81年に発表となる750キラーと言われた水冷のヤマハRZ350と同じ数値という驚異的な物でした。しかしWildmanが惚れていたのはパワーもそうですが、不良のA君のお兄様のマッハで体験したあのテールカウルだったのです。
350SS発表時のキャッチコピーは「40年間お待たせしました、初めての
テールアップGT」という物で世界初のテールカウル装着の量産車だったのです。デザインもエンジンもテールカウルも丸くなってしまったKHとは違いSSはとんがったテールカウルを持つ斬新なスタイルのバイクでした。レインボーラインと呼ばれる虹をイメージしたようなまさにバリバリの70'sなデザインのストライプがタンクとテールカウルに入っていました。
タンク等の外装部品はベースカラーが白とレッドの2種類があり、特に白は当時では珍しいパールホワイトの塗装でした。60年代の古臭いバイクのデザインから完全に決別した物となった最初のバイクだとWildmanは解釈しております、ハイ。
またもや説明が長くなり終わりが見えなくなってきましたが、２２年前の日曜日に東京の中古車屋に出向いたWildmanはついに憧れの350SS
マッハIIとご対面となりました。「ギャオー、カッコイイ!!本当にカッコイイ!どうしましょう、このバイク!!」と興奮するWildman、するとお店の怪しいヒゲオヤジが「若いくせに旧いバイクが好きなんだ？」と話し掛けてきます。
「旧いバイクが好きなんじゃないんです、好きなマッハが旧かっただけです」と又も会話がおかしくなっていました。
現車はハンドルやミラー、リアショック以外はほぼオリジナルを留めていて、タンクやテールカウルの塗装も塗り替えがされていないオリジナルのパールホワイト＆レインボーラインというWildmanにとって完璧な物でした。14年落ちのバイクとしては程度は良く、ピカピカと言うわけではありませんでしたが、ずっと車検を取って乗り続けてきた風格？のような物がありました。物欲モードはピークに達し「目の前のマッハがオレを呼んでいる! 何とかしなければこの15分後お店に来る悪いヤツに買われてなくなってしまうかもしれない、いやきっとそうなってしまうぞ」と思い込みが激しくなり興奮しすぎてお店の中をグルグルと歩き回っていました。
「ところでこのマッハはおいくらでしょうかね？？」とヒゲオヤジに聞いてみると、あっさり「50万円だよ」と言い放たれました。「ご、ごじゅう万円!!」とびっくり仰天のWildman。
いくらプレミアが付いた金額とはいえ当時の相場からいっても高すぎる金額に愕然となりました。頭の中では30万円くらいかしら？と考えていたので50万と言われて返す言葉もありませんでした。
「まいった、いくら何でも50万は出せない・・・350ccで車検もあるし、今後の維持費を考えたら無理すぎる」とWildmanにしては珍しく、あきらめモードが漂ってきました。ガックリと肩を落としているとヒゲオヤジが「君が乗ってきたKH250なら結構キレイだから15万円で下取るよ」と攻撃して来ました。「苦楽を共にして来たカエル君は15万か・・・寂しいな」と思いましたが、「そうすれば残金は35万になるのか、それなら払えるかしら？」とカエル君を見つめていました。するとヒゲオヤジが「確かに金額は高いけどさ、このバイクには秘密があってさ、50万円でも今後得する物を付けようと思っているんだ」とネズミ講のような怪しい言葉を発します。
「ナンダ、詐欺師かこのオヤジは・・・」と警戒するWildmanに向かってヒゲオヤジはごそごそと何やら店の奥からブツを持ってきて見せようとします。
と言う事で又もや今回も書き切る事が出来ませんでした、本当に参りました。次回は今度こそ感動の最終回「止まらない借金、止まらないマッハ」をお届けする予定です。皆様もう少しこの小説にお付き合い下さい。（と言うか誰か終わらさせて下さい・・・）

But in 1985 a bike magazine had ad of used bike shop who carried advertisement "KAWASAKI 350 SS" the 1971 with 2 years valid inspections great condition ask for price." "Its Mach, first model, white rainbow and that's what Wildman always wanted" so excited the Wildman made call to this shop. "is the 350SS on the ad still available?" asked "yes its here you can see it any time" nice answer. "OK I will go on Sunday to your shop." So he didn't think about price and waited for Sunday.

Light weight high powered like MACH III and 350cc 3 cylinder 45ps was Class top most power (the other brand had 350cc 2cycle for 36ps) This power was same as 1981 YAMAHA RZ350 water cooled which was called 750cc Killer which came out 10 years later. Wildman was not dreaming about just power but also about Tail cowl which He knew his bad friend As brothers.
350SS had catch copy "made you wait for 40 years, first tail up GT" it was world first factory bike with tail cowl. Design, engine tail cowl was more round on KH but SS has new design
With more sharp tail cowl.
The so 70s design "Rainbow line" was on tank and tail cowl. Tank and other exterior were painted on base color was 2 type With pearl white And Red. White was pearl white which was rare at that time. Wildman think it is the first bike that made change from old 60s bike design.
Another long explanation and cant see the end to it but 22 years ago on Sunday Wildman went to the used bike shop and finally got dreamed 350SS Mach II.
"Gahoo, Cool really cool! What should we do with this bike" so excited Wildman, the strange looking beard guy of the shop came "You like old bike even though you are young" "I don't like old bike, the bike I liked was old Mach" and so the conversation was funny again.
The bike had changed handle, mirror, rear shock but others were almost all original and tank and cowl had no repaint and original pearl white and rainbow line, it was perfect for Wildman.
The bike was good for being 14years old, not super clean but always kept Registerd and running. Wildmans worldly desires hit the peak "the Mach in front of me is calling me, I have to do something or some bad guys may come up In 15minutes and buy it away, oh no it will be like that. "Wildman had imagined too much too excited and walked around inside the shop.
"by the way how much is this Mach?" so Wildman asked to the beard guy "500,000 yen" so he said. "50? 500,000 yen!!" Wildman was really surprised. Even though the premium was added on it was too high for that time. Only thought it was about 300,000yen and couldn't even reply for 500,000yen.
"that's too much cant pay that much and 350cc means more money for inspection, its too much for maintaining the bike" it was rare occasion but Wildman was in give up mode. Seeing his shoulder dropped the beard man said " hei your KH250 is pretty clean so I will take it for 150,000yen" so he made offer. "The frog is only 150,000? We shared good and bad days…"
sad he thought but yet again "hei than I have 350,000yen left to pay. May be I can do that" and Wildman was staring at frog. Then the beard man offers again "Its true that its expensive but
This bike has secret it will have it on which makes far more worth 500,000yen." Very tricky words came out. "what is this guy sounds like swindler? " The beard guy try to show something from back of the shop to show to Wildman who was in the alert mode.
So he couldn't finish this time again. Really cant do much about it. Next time will be ending of the cry out of the non stop loan and non stop Mach. Please bear with him for his novel.
